Chesapeake Bay Bridge from Little Creek
Watercolor, plein air. 5 x 7 in. After a long trip, I walked the bay with my dog. I sat leaning against a rock at the fence, happy I to be painting again. You get sand in your paints and on your painting, but nevermind. Just wait till it's dry and brush it off. When I took the painting to Skipjack for my show in November 2010, the owners recognized the spot and said their friend lives right there. Always wondered who lives in those houses right on the water. $225

Owl's Head Light Beach Cliff
Watercolor, plein air. 12 x 16 in. $255 This is one that I liked better after I had not seen it for a few weeks. I was disgusted while working on it. Then my guru says you shouldn't be disgusted with it, and I felt more frustrated. Why can't I see what he sees? But later and it had more appeal. I wanted to put more information up on that pine covered hill. But shall I leave it.
From the Shade, Owl's Head Harbor
Watercolor, plein air. 6 x 10 in. Day one 2010. Maine Master Watercolor Class. The huge tree in Amy's yard is sufficient for many of us to keep our cool while painting. I was very interested in the colors in the tree in relation to the colors of the sea. For sale at Skipjackmarinegallery.com for $275

Scribble Doodle
Gouache, I think. About 9 x 12 in. This came from remembering what my Swedish grand father, Far Far, used to do. He would ask us to scribble on a paper. Then we would hand him the pencil and he would make a picture of something out of our mark. We were always amazed. Now I do this with my grand children. Here I changed the game. I made a scribble and then painted in the sections for the sheer joy of putting the colors onto the paper and choosing which colors should go down next to others.

Long Gray Tee Pee
gouache. about 6 x 10 in. 2010. Where I live. At the moment I write, it is for sale, my piece of the long gray tee pee. I hope it does not sell and I love it here. This is from memory, sort of a sketchy idea not even remotely meant to be accurate. But I love it for some reason I cannot explain.
Chic's Beach Near Lesner Bridge
Chic's Beach. That day Zushi and I walked all the way down to the bridge where I sat and painted while he explored. After a while, a group of students came by and I said, "If you see a big dog, he's friendly." They said, "We already met him." and there he came rounding the corner at his best galump "Look Ma! I found a whole buncha new friends!"
We walked on home and the boy was so tired that day. But we were both happy.
Owl's Head Light
2010. Good weather. I painted in class and out of class. The week I stayed in Owl's Head I decided it was time that I saw their light house. It was within walking distance. Up the 51 steps with the other tourists and down again, taking pictures. Then I sat on the fence and painted this.
Original is at Skipjackmarinegallery.com. About 6 by 10 inches. Giclees available.
